A scene from our last production

Nobody has more fun

After seeing our first pantomime, a critic from a local magazine wrote “Nobody has more fun than the Wonersh Players”, and that atmosphere still remains.

The Wonersh Players

The Wonersh Players is an amateur dramatic society that write, produce and perform their own pantomimes. They are an easy going, like-minded group of friends who enjoy putting on a show, and love entertaining audiences. The quality of the costumes and scenery are second to none, and the scripts are both traditional and innovative.

The Wonersh Players have been in existence for over 30 years, always performing their pantomimes at the Wonersh Memorial Hall during the February Half Term Holiday, with rehearsals starting the previous Autumn.

They have also tackled more challenging project, performing highly regarded Murder Mystery plays over the last four years. They have also performed a critically acclaimed one act play about Wonersh during the Great War.

If you would like to join the Wonersh Players, as an actor, a musician or on the Production Team, feel free to get in touch with us through the Contact Us page of this site. New members are always welcome.

Peter Pan

It’s second to the right, and then straight on till morning when the Wonersh Players perform Peter Pan their long-established “late, late” pantomime, during this February Half-Term Holiday.

JM Barrie’s story is given a new twist by writer/director Glyn Tassell, and has the usual blend of old jokes, memorable songs, slapstick routines, & strong characters. It promises to give children and adults a show to remember.

The story unfolds as Peter Pan (Alex Vinall) visits the Darling household and persuades Wendy (Liz Rossall), John (Luke Osborne) and John (Tavy Hussey) to return to Neverland with him, much to the annoyance of the feisty Tinker Bell (Nyssa Staniforth). They are attacked by evil Captain Hook (Glyn Tassell) and his pirate crew Brooke (Lynne Stedman), Smee (Leigh Terry), Starkey (Jon Rogers) and Bill (Nicky Bracey). Meanwhile, Princess Tiger Lily (Simon Osborne) along with the Lost Boys Tootles (Lily Read), Curly (Charlotte King), Nibs (Isobel Adamyk) and Slightly (Janet Terry) try to save the Darling children, but will the Crocodile (Dave Workman) get there first? Will Peter beat Hook? You’ll just have to see the show to find out.

Performances at the Wonersh Memorial Hall are in February on Thursday 21st, Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd, with a Children’s Matinee on Saturday 23rd. Tickets cost £6.00 for adults and £4.00 for children & seniors and are available from 01483 892401. Profits of the show will go to the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity and to Us on a Bus
