Coming soon to Wonersh ....

You'll have a whale of a time when the Wonersh Players perform Pinocchio, their long-established “late, late” pantomime, during this February Half-Term Holiday.

The traditional tale is given a new twist by writer/director Glyn Tassell, and has the usual blend of old jokes, memorable songs, slapstick routines, & strong characters. It promises to give children and adults a show to remember.

The garrulous puppet maker Mrs G (Luke Osborne) is yearning for somebody to love. The Blue Fairy (Charlotte King) hears her pleas, and brings Pinocchio (Isobel Adamyk) to life, but guidance is needed from the loyal Jiminy Cricket (Lily Read). As the lazy Lampwick (Nicky Bracey) and Jackonello (Liz Rossall), lead Pinocchio astray, Mrs G and star crossed lovers Rosalie (Immi Rawlings) and Marco (Jessen Ariapen) try to keep Pinocchio safe after being trapped by greedy Stomboli (Leigh Terry), his henchman Barker (Yvette Osborne) and their puppets (Dave Walkman & Janet Terry). Meanwhile, the light fingered Johnny the Fox (Glyn Tassell) and feisty Milo the Cat (Nyssa Staniforth) cause mayhem along the way. Who are the two mysterious villains lurking in the woods? Will Pinocchio escape from being swallowed by the whale? You'll have to see the show to find out.

Performances at the Wonersh Memorial Hall are in February on Thursday 20th & Friday 21st at 7:30, and Saturday 22nd at 2:30 (Matinee) & 7:00. Tickets are £6.00 for adults and £4.00 for children & seniors and are available from 01483 892401. Profits of the show will go to our charities, the Fountain Centre and to Us on a Bus

The Wonersh Players performed a short play tracing the history of Chilworth Manor at their Open Day on 8th & 9th June. The play only lasted 15 minutes, was performed three times each afternoon and featured several historical characters including Henry VIII and Sarah Churchill, Duchess of Marlborough

Nobody has more fun

After seeing our first pantomime, a critic from a local magazine wrote “Nobody has more fun than the Wonersh Players”, and that atmosphere still remains.
